Do you know where the earliest Brights in Burke County came from?I have been researching the Brights and Brites (same family) in other counties (Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Beaufort, Craven) for many years now.But I have not been able to figure out where the people in Burke, who apparently were there as early as the NC State Census was taken in 1784-1787.I would like to know if these early people in Burke came from one or more of the counties I have been studying. In this early State Census, there were two families listed. One head of household was William and the other was listed as ---mas Bright with 5 males under 21 and above 60, and four females.(The first name on the census record apparently was illegible.)I just have these two families from the Census Index, and no other information.
Someone else recently posted a message regarding James Bright, who married Nancy Humphrey in Burke County in 1830.I have posted a reply to that today. You may want to look at that if you haven't already seen it.
I am trying to find "missing" people in the records of these other counties to fill in some gaps of my own direct line and other close lines.I would like to share information with you if that would be helpful. Please write
