I have done research on the Bright families in northeastern North Carolina--Currituck, Pasquotank, and Camden counties, principally. There was an Edward Bright who is mentioned in land deeds in Pasquotank Co. very early--about 1719.Then he disappears in these records by 1845.I have not been able to connect him with any of the Bright families in this region. Some people theorize that he might have moved to Bedford County because we know that an Edward Bright married Mary Ann Gregory, and there are Gregory relatives in Currituck. However, we have absolutely no proof for this theory! This Edward could have been the son of Henry Bright, who came to Pasquotank Co. about 1700 from Lower Norfolk Co., VA.He was one of three sons of John Bright, who we think was the initial immigrant from England, who came in a ship to Norfolk Co., VA in 1658.Henry's two brothers were John and Richard Bright, about whom we know a lot.
I wish I knew more about Edward; the only thing I can tell you is that I don't know of any other Edward Brights in the early records of northeastern NC.This sure isn't much to go on, but it's a possible lead.
I would like to know more myself.I am a descendant of Charles, another son of the original Henry, who came down from VA to Pasquotank about 1700.
