Lynn, my apologizes for leaving this research for so very long.I have just purchased a book, Royal Families, Vol Two, Rev Francis Marbury, by Marston Watson, forward by Gary Boyd Roberts, Sr Research Scholer, New England Historic Genealogical Society, so I assume that this is the authoritative resource. It was published in 2004 and I don't remember when I first heard about the DAR hold, and have also never discovered what is being questioned.
On page 282 of this book, the children of John Brightman + Elizabeth Ann Taylor are cited as being found in RI Vital Records (published), citation is 4:1:59.Exact quote:John Brightman (Susanna Cornell, Deliverance Clarke, Hannah Scott, Katherine Marby, Francis Marby) b 24 May 1753 Portsmouth, m Elizabeth Ann Taylor 27 Mar 18=783 Portsmouth by Elder Wm Blkss. He was a Rev War patriot. He and Elizabeth had five children whose births were recorded in Portsmouth.
My Wm is listed w/ a wife, Ada George Stapleton . Ind 20 Sep 1820 (I have never seen this reference before), and your George Claver b 20 Sep 1790 m. Nancy Moore 11 Aug 1814 Charlestown, Ind, d 29 Dec 1857 Goliad, TX, Tuesday morning. The only discrepency that I see is that the author uses Clover rather than Claver.
Have you contacted the DAR?I don't know why I haven't but will try that next.I didn't check to see if I have your current address. Will send more info soon.Take care, Sue
