Here are some things I gathered quite a few years ago.I haven't worked on this line for awhile and what I did find was in my early research days. Please forgive any errors.

House 275 has a Nancy Brightwell age 55 from NC with Matilda age 12 and Jefferson age 11.I have read others research stating that these are Gainum's two oldest children.
Elgin, Gainum's brother is also found in this county in house 154 with his family.
Ebenezer Houser is found in dwelling 344.He is Nancy's brother.
Josiah, her father is in dwelling 341.
1860 Independence AR census page 218

Margaret is my direct ancestor. Her full name is Margaret Tennesse Brightwell B. mar 18, 1859 AR died Dec 13, 1943, Fresno, Fresno, CA she is buried in a suburb of Fresno called Easton in Washington Colony cemetery.
Margaret married Joseph (Pinkney) Sullivan who died in the flu epidemic, then later James Hamilton Collins.
I have more details about her and her descendents. There is a monument in AR with Gainum and other family members on it from when he served in the civil war.
Gainum married Nancy Walker on 12-29-1839.Gainum served in Co. F, 8 AR cavalry.I sent for the pension records, but they could not find any. They did send me some of Elgins, his brother. He also serve in co. G of Shaver's 7th Infantry CSA as a captain.
That's all I can drum up right now.I'm glad to find another cousin! My ggrandmother Margaret states that she was part Cherokee.Have you heard of that on your side?
