Re: Brigman name
I found a reference in a Celtic history book some years ago on the name Brigman. The name seems to have orginated in the area of Gaul (now France) and refers to a "protected hillside encampment"... so Brigman would have been a man/person living in one of these encampments."Brig", as the start to a name, is seen all over Europe.I've seen it from Italy/Spain (Brigmandello, Brigance, Brigand, etc.) all the way up to northern Germany and Poland. There were many Brigmans living in England back to the 1400s and 1500s.The name spread all over.
