Dear David , I am a descendent through Henry Brigman whom I believe isHenry Allen, son of Dr. John Washington Strong Brigman. First several questions, was JWS Brigman a medical doctor? Where did the name Strong come from? Any info yet on JWS's parents? Any idea of origin before the Carolinas? Now, some info that might prove interesting or helpful: Marlboro County SC Civil War Veterans Roster compiled approx. 1890: http://www.researchonline.net/sccw/rosters/26thinfd.htm)I know that my gg grandfather was a Civil War veteran. I believe he is one of the Henrys listed on this roster. It also lists Eli and William as killed at Petersburg. All three were in Company D, 26th Regiment, SC Volunteer Infantry with several more Brigmans I have not placed yet. There was a second Henry, Moses, J.Curtis, and Jacob C. (Any info where the rest of these fit?) Family history has always told us that my gg grandfather never quite got over the effects of the War. If these were his brothers that were killed at Petersburg and he was there with them this may have beenpart of the profound grieving it seems he brought back with him and never quite got over... Do you have any research or documentation on this?
