BRINSON--which Joseph?

Looking for information about Joseph Brinson who married Nancy Towers in Shelby Co., INDIANA on 13 Aug 1847.Did this marriage end with her death?Any information on either would help me in my search for this man.There are several Joseph Brinsons and am trying to narrow my search to find the right one. Another married Martha Brown in 1879 in Jefferson Co. IN. He(whichever) was my ggrandfather.
Help---please; has been a long search.
