Robbie, Since posting my message, I have learned (I think) that the Mary I had listed as the sister of Ralston who married John Brandded/Broadhead, may not have been a sister but possibly a sister-in-law. I ran across an IGI record while researching the Brandded/Broadhead name that listed John Brandded m Mary ADAMS on May 1842 in Porter Co, IN.Somewhere along the, I forget how but I will backtrack later, I found a listing that indicated that John and Mary were in TX.I found a John in Grayson Co. TX.I have an email buddy who lives in TX and asked him to look for Ralston and also Brandded on one of his trips to the library. He sent me a copy of the 1850 census with the Brandded name.(It was spelled Branded). It is listed as follows: John Branded 63 Farmer b in Kentucky Mary Branded 39 b in OH R. John7 yr b in IN (can't decipher) Branded 5 yr b in IN Jane Branded 3 yr b in IN Jasper Branded 3 yr b in IN Also listed in the same family were: S. Brandded (spelled correctly this time)1 yr b in TX. R. Adams 12 yr b in IN O. Adams 10 yr b in IN. My Thomas ADAMS had a son, John who married Mary Unknown last name in 1831.According to a suit filed in Porter Co in 1852 by the Adams family, John, who died abt 1842, had his heirs, Rosannah and Orinda Adams listed as plaintiffs by their guardian Henry S. Adams. To me, this proves that the Mary ADAMS who married John Brandded was the widow of John Adams, son of Thomas. The R. Adams and O. Adams listed as living with John Brandded and Mary ADAMS Brandded have to be Rosannah and Orinda. So, now I have a Mary Adams, d/o Thomas Adams who has no husband. The search starts again for my Mary. Do you agree that the Mary ADAMS married to John Brandded is the widow of John Adams?
I am posting this to the board instead of replying directly to you in case someone else may have some input about this family.
If Ralston and his first wife Susannah Broadhead, moved to TX before 1850, and John Brandded and Mary ADAMS Brandded were in TX in 1850, maybe some of your Broadheads also ventured to TX.
Email me directly about your thoughts about my thinking on the John and Mary theory.
