This too is my line of Brogdons actually have been told from the Brogdons over in England that either Brogdon or Brogden ....they are all related in one way or another....I think actually I am only missing a generation or 2 to take them back over to England. Anyway in your question about Buggy Brogdon....His name is Alexander B. Brogdon aka "Buggy" ...This was sent to me by another researcher so I haven't had a chance to verify his information yet...but thought I would post here and maybe we can all verify together.
So onto who he was....He was born about 1838 in Morgan Co, Alabama to Alexander Brogdon b.abt 1820 and an unknown wife. "Buggy" as I will refer to him since there are 2 married Sarah B. Davis, January 30, 1868, in Morgan Co., Alabama.Buggy and Sarah had 3 children: Hiram A Brogdon, b.October 21, 1868, Louis Byrd Brogdon, b.January 29, 1870, and Thomas Franklin Brogdon, b.July 10, 1873. His Second marriage was to Olivia "Lovie" Woods on January 24, 1875 in Alabama they had 2 sons: Henry Menard Brogdon, b August 1888 and William Hubbard Brogdon.
I have a bunch of other notes for Buggy he sent me also if anyone is interested. In the notes he lists books and places most of this information was found I just haven't had the chance to check it out. Buggy was also in the Alabama Calvary according to the notes.
Alexander his father is the son of James Samuel Brogdon and his first wife of unknown name they also had one other son Gabriel F. Brogdon b.March 1823....This is the same James Samuel who later married Susannah Frost and had my Lorenzo Dow.
So now I have a total count of 6 sons for James Samuel Brogdon. So in short your Buggy is the grandson of James Samuel and a nephew to our Lorenzo Dow ( for those of us in this line anyway).
Feel free to e-mail me if anyone wants more of this, has any questions or just wants to share family stuff.
