Brooker's of Southeast Georgia

I'm interested in contactng anyone trying to research the Brooker's from Southeast Georgia.My great-grandfather was Tolbert Brooker (b. 1878). His parents were James (abt. 1855)and Mary Ann(abt. 1859) Brooker. His siblings were:

Joseph b. 1905

Apparently, they were living in Wayne Co. during the 1900 census.


In addition, I just found a copy of my great-grandfather's obituary.If anyone sees a connection, I'd love to hear from you.Below is a copy of the obit.He died on December 23, 1942.The age in his obituary should have been 64, not 56.He never told the truth about his age.

OBIT:

Tolliver [Tolbert] B. Brooker, 56, Waycross carpenter, died Wednesday at a local hospital after a short illness.

He was a member of the American Federation of Labor Local No. 779, Carpentrs and Joiners.

Besides his widow [Alice Vuncannon], he is survived by three sons, Elmer, Wilbur, and Edgar Brooker of Waycross; seven daughters, Mrs. Lois White, Mrs. Grace Ryals, Mrs. Ethel Watts, all of Jacksonville, Miss Betty Ruth Brooker, Miss Mary Lee Brooker, Miss Margaret Brooker, and Miss Alice Faye Brooker, all of Waycross, four brothers, Fred Brooker of Live Oak, Ward, Horace, and Joe Brooker of Brunswick, and three sisters, Mrs. Georgia Miller of Brunswick, Mrs. Martha Strickland of Jacksonville, and Miss Mary Brooker of Miami.

Funeral services were held Friday morning, conducted by Dr. Durward V. Cason, pastor of the Central Baptist Church; pallbearers were W.T. Strickland, H.E. McGinnis, C.B. Womble, T.J. James, Irwin Faulk, and T.M. Kirland.

Burial was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Mincy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
