Marshall....I wonder if Colonel William Brown (born about 1753) was perhaps a BROTHER of the Robert Brown in DNA "Group 33" who was born around 1759, as I recall?Wasn't that Robert Brown thought to have been a brother of a Pollard Brown in Culpeper Co., VA area?If the above should be correct, then maybe Colonel William Brown named two of his sons "Robert" and "Pollard" in honor of his own brothers.
Note: There were also some known men named Francis Brown in DNA "Group 33."
By the way, I see that some show the Elizabeth who was the wife of Colonel William Brown as a likely Strother and Coleman descendant. There are many files on RootsWeb WorldConnect that show a French Strother with a wife named Lucy Coleman. That Lucy Coleman "traces back" to the Robert Coleman, Senior who married Elizaeth Grizzell, and to their son named Robert Coleman, Junior who married Ann Splisby. That is the same overall Coleman family into which "my" DNA "Group 10" married.
Now....I have long-suspected that the Thomas Brown, Junior of Westmoreland/Fauquier/Loudoun Co., VA who married a Miss Reed/Reid/Read was another member of DNA "Group 33"....per some clues (albeit, certainly no proof). That Miss Reed/Reid/Read was also a Coleman descendant, but researchers show that she "traced back" to an "early" Richard Coleman.I have long-suspected that this Richard Coleman was a close relative of the above-mentioned Robert Colemans.Thomas Brown, Junior and Miss Reed/Reid/Read had a son who was named Coleman Brown....and it appears that this has led to some confusion between "Group 33" and "Group 10" (since "Group 10" had at least a couple of men in it who were also named Coleman Brown).Bill
