Re: Brownlees In Canada
Jim, Apparently we do not connect. But here's a slight rundown on Alberta Premier John BROWNLEE:
Born 27 Aug 1884, Port Ryerse, Norfolk, Ontario, To William James & his wife Christine SHAW. When he was very young, the family moved to Bradshaw, Sarnia Twsp, Lambton Co., where his father owned a village store on Brigden Side Road across from the Bradshaw United Presbyterian Church (they were members.) The family then moved to Brigden, Moore Twsp. John was educated at Brigden Public School and Sarnia High School. He later taught at Brigden School and attended University of Toronto. His father William was Town Clerk of Moore Twsp. from 1920 until his death in 1934.
Every time I run across a John BROWNLEE, I check it out, since I cannot get past my Great Grandfather John BROWNLEE (b. Belfast in 1818) who came to New Orleans, LA by way of Canada then New York City. Nothing he left behind mentioned his parentage, and no one who may have known passed the information down to my generation. I did not think there were so many BROWNLEES in the world, much less John BROWNLEES!
Good luck on your research!
