Re: William Redman Brownlee born between 1790 and 1800
The late Harry BROWNLEE's "The South Carolina BROWNLEES" shows William Redman BROWNLEE b. 1818, in Lowndes Co, MS and d. 1856, Jones Co, MS. He was the sixth son of James BROWNLEE, Sr. (b. 1775, Abbeville, SC - d. 15 May 1825, Lowndes Co, MS) & Mary "Polly" UNKNOWN (possibly WATKINS)(b. 1780 - d. 12 Jun 1832, MS). James' parents were James BROWNLEE (b. c. 1736 Scotland- d. 12 Jun 1798, Abbeville, SC) & his second wife Sarah TRIMBLE (nee ?), widow of Judge Hugh TRIMBLE of SC. His first wife, Jean or Jane WEBB, died in Ireland. James & his brother John and their families went from Belfast, Ireland to Charleston, SC on the brig "Lord DUNGANNON" in 1769. A brother William was also said to have been with them, but he was not on the ship's manifest.
James & Polly BROWNLEE moved from SC to Lowndes Co, MS in 1805 where their four youngest (and possibly fifth) were born.
William Redman BROWNLEE married Laura Emily HUSBANDS on 5 Apr 1831 and they had six sons and five daughters.
