I went over to the Minnesota History Center on Saturday and I found the actual records for the Marriage of Joseph and Louisa Brunelle, the 1850 Census that lists them living in Wabashaw (sic) Territory and the Death record for Joseph Brunelle.
These are the details.
Marriage Record file F606 E227 1979 Baptisms, Marriages, Deaths 1841 - 1847 by Father Augustin Ravoux.
This is a listing compiled by people at the St. Paul Archdiocese the actual notebook, hand written by Father Ravoux, is said to be at the St. Paul Seminary. There is an Archdiocese Archive and the records may be transferred there. I ordered the file P370 that has photo copies of the actual notebook pages written by Father Ravoux, but the page for Joseph and Louisa's marriage was not there. The pages are all written in French. There was a reason I took French in High School!
BRUNEL (sic), Joseph (Joseph and Marguerite Lambert)
LEGROS , Louise (added Lecount) (Antoine & Lisette L'Hereaux) p73X
9 Aug 1941 (G) St. Pierre wit: Turpin & V. Guerin L. v1 #4 p116
I also located Joseph and Louisa on the 1850 Census the record Dated July 20, 1850 for Wabashaw(sic) Territory.
37 34 Joseph Brunelle 32(years) M(ale) Canada East (place of birth)
Louise(sic) Brunelle 23(years) F(emale) Red River North
Angel Brunelle 7(years) F Minnesota
Joseph Brunelle, Jr. 5M Minnesota
Bellonie Brunelle3 F Minnesota
Marie Brunelle .5/12F Minnesota
I take the .5/12 for Marie to mean that she was 5 months old in July of 1850. Do you think this is correct?
I also found Joseph Brunelle's Death Record State of Minnesota, County of Hennepin, Township of Medina, Registered number 4460 for November 30, 1912. Cause of death Angina (can't read word) and chronic endocarditis. Contributory atheroma and atheriosclerosis. Two interesting things, 1) his date of birth is listed as May 20, 1818, and 2) his occupation is listed as farmer.
For Joseph Brunelle we now have b. May 20, 1818, m. August 9, 1841 and d. November 30, 1912 (94 years, 6 months and 10 days).
Some points of interest,
Louisa was 15 years old when she married Joseph who was 23. By the time Louisa was 23 she already had four children. I forgot both Joseph and Louisa are marked as being unable to read on the 1850 Census.
