We have just begun to research our Bruner ancestors, who include: Stephen Bruner, who married Magdalena, and had John Bruner, Sr., on Aug. 9, 1770, in Maryland(?).John Bruner married Martha Ann Darter, and had nine children, including Ephram (1803), Ruben(sp?)(1817), James (1821), Jacob, Malinda, Henry (1798), John Jr., Joseph, and Eveclay.Ephram, born in 1803, was our great-great grandfather.He married Catherine (sp?) Younger Watts, who was born in 1808 in Virginia.Their children, all born in Virginia, were:Andrew (1826?), Ruben (Dec. 3, 1826), Elizabeth "Betsy" (1827), William Watts (Dec. 17, 1828), George (1829), Martha Ann "Patsy" (Jan. 11, 1830), and James (1845).Ruben(whose name is sometimes spelled Reuben or Reubin), is our great-grandfather.He married Catherine Stewart (or Stuart), who was born on Feb. 22, 1840, in Allegheny, W. Virginia.Their ten children, some of whom were born in Kentucky, were:William Henry (Oct. 21, 1854), Mary Jane "Pink" (July 27, 1856), Lucinda (1858), Louise (1860), Sara Angeline (1864), James Robert (Sept. 17, 1866), Barbara (or Barbra) (July 6, 1868 or 1869), Kathryn Younger "Kate" (1871), Martha Elizabeth (Nov. 11, 1874), and John (Dec. 2,1877).Barbara, our grandmother, was married first to John Bryant, with whom she had eight children.After he died, she married our grandfather, a Civil War veteran, Serenus Warren Carter, born Feb. 23, 1847, and had six more children.Those children were: Ansel R. (1902), Jay (1904), Gladys (1906), Bennie (1908), Goldie (1910), and our father, Truman C. (1914).Any new information, or confirmation of the information we've posted, on our ancestors would be appreciated.Our primary focus is in tracing our ancestry back further, and finding out more about our direct ancestors.
