As you know Richard was probably the slave shown in the 1850 Slave Census under Sarah Colvin Bruner as 9 year old Male. This was before Sarah married William Fleetwood who was a slave owner as was her husband Jacob Plunkett Bruner. FYI Jacob Bruner was the son of a slave owner (John S. Bruner)in Winchester KY and he and his brother Stephen came to Missouri around statehood 1821. He married Sarah who was also from KY in Missouri. Richard would have been born in Missouri.Another rather famous Bruner slave was Peter Bruner who also ran away and joined the Union cause. His book and narratives are all over the internet. Just google his name and add slave. Peter would have been owned by Jacob's brother John W. Bruner. My husband is descended from Jacob's son Lycurgus who was in the Confederate Missouri State Guard and was captured and interned in the Rock Island,IL Union prison until the end of the war. I'l check Jacobs will but I don't beleive the slaves were mentioned by name, just that Sarah got them. Hope this helps a little more.
