Samuel Clayton Buchanan b. 1798; d. bet 1854-56
I am trying to find this man's siblings. He married my gggg aunt, Nancy Herrington, in Georgia in 1814. I came across copies of letters that were written to the eldest son of this couple and in one of the letters the writer talks about "your Uncle William". No last names are given and I would like to find out if this was an uncle from the Buchanan family. There is no indication that the Herrington family had a known "William" up to that time, but we are faced with that brick wall that pops up every so often.
I have been buried in all the Samuel Buchanan's. His middle name is also very popular in the Buchanan clan. SCB died in Louisiana, probably in De Soto Parish. The names of his children were:
Wilson Granbury, Mary, Sarah E., Robert Walker, Miles
Green, John, Betty Jane, Nathaniel Green, Martha,
Granbury, Miles, John, Mary, and Sarah are very common in the Herrington line. The remainder are not found in that group.
I have looked everywhere I can think of and have come up with a couple of census records and some land dealings in Alabama and Louisiana, but can find nothing about him before he and Nancy married. Any clues/help would be greatly appreciated and if I have anything about the Herrington's that you would be interested in, I will more than happy to share. Thanks.
