two Benjamin Newtons / JULIA BULL / Jane DANFORD
BENJAMIN RICHARD NEWTONis often confused with BENJAMINFRANKLIN
NEWTON.
Ben. R. Newton was never married to Mary Jane Danford (aks:Jane, Janey, Janie).
The evidence for this can be found for one in the Alabama Census of 1900.Benjamin
"R" can be found in Dale County, Alabama with his wife:Julia Ann BULL Newton.Julia
BULLNewton is still alive in 1900 even though she has been reported by many as having
died in 1893.
1893 is whenBenjamin FRANKLIN Newton marriedMary Jane "Janey"DANFORDin
Henry County Alabama.
Ben. F. and Jane Danford can be found in the 1900 census for Henry County Alabama
with theirchildren.Jane Danford was the 4th wife of Ben F. Newton.
This is extremely important because many are confusing the two Benjamin Newtons.
I do not know the particulars on the tombstone in Mt. Carmel Methodist Cemetery which
hasJulia Newton with a date of 22 Feb 1893.But it is apparent this is not the same
Julia who is married to Benjamin Richard Newton and still alive in 1900.
Neither Julia or Ben R. appear in the 1910 census.Benjamin R. Newton died in 1901.
As for the two Benjamins -Benjamin R. was born in England, 1823;Benjamin F. was
born 1847 in Maryland.
There is clear evidence for the fact that there are two Benjamin Newtons. If anyone
finds an error in my research, has additions, or corrections, please send me email.I
hope to hear from anyone researching this family.
