I'm wondering how my family might fit in with yours. They seem to close to not be related.
I am searching for a James Burch, born about 1800 in Virginia and died some time after 1844, in estimated Lewis County, Missouri.I have only a few records for him.The first is his marriage on June 1, 1818 in Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky to Naomi Williamson (born Aug 8, 1800, daughter of William Williamson and Letitia Green).
He is then found in the 1840 US Federal Census in Lewis County, Missouri with his small family and two female slaves. He is also listed as having purchased two 80-acre parcels of land in Lewis County, Missouri on Sept 10, 1844.
I am only aware of one child - Nancy Ann Burch, born in March 1827 in Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky. She died some time after 1912 in Berkeley, California. She married William Jackson "Jack" Cottey on July 13, 1845 in Edina, Knox, Missouri.Jack and Nancy had several children, I am descended from their daughter Emma Ruth Cottey (born May 8, 1858 in Missouri, died Dec 9, 1940 in San Francisco, California).
Please e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any info or suggestions.
Thank you - Dale Sheldon
