Re: Lewis A Burdett/Burdette WV family names

According to William Brown's 1954 History of Nicholas Co. W.Va. My John Burdett came from Monroe Co. and was the son of William Burdett. William married his second wife Jane Scott Sept. 15, 1818 This is also listed in Oren F. Morton's History of Monroe Co. If one goes thru all the deeds and wills for Monroe. It's evident that there are three John Burdett's 1.John Burdett who is far to old to be William's son but is maybe a brother of William. 2.John Burdett son of Giles Burdett and Sarah Dunbar according to Oren F. Morton's history this John as born 1795. 3. John Burdett son of William. My George Washington Hicks husband of Delilah Burdett was born in Greenbrier Co. and his Parents Joseph Stephen Hicks and Margaret Boggs married in Monroe in 1814. If you look at the aunts of my Joseph Stephen Hicks father of George Washington Hicks namely Susanna (Hicks) Jarrett - Nancy (Hicks) Ellis - Catheriine (Hicks) Skaggs - Elizabeth (Hicks) Johnson all sisters of my Joseph Stephen Hicks's father William Hicks. And if you look just about everywhere you will find Willis Burdett - John Burdett - Miles Burdett names on several records with all of the above Hicks sisters. In the 1926 History of Roane Co By Bishop page 284 you will find Washington Hicks married To Delilah Burdett. Same book John Boggs and his family namely his daughter Margaret (Boggs) Hicks and lists her son Washington Hicks as married to Delilah Burdett. My George Washington Hicks parents Joseph Stephen Hicks & Margaret Boggs were pioneer settlers of Roane Co. My John Burdett's son Daniel names his oldest son William 2nd son James 3rd son John. I have all the courthouse records out of Roane - Jackson - Monroe - Nicholas Counties for Burdett. I'm am related to about everyone in Monroe Co. including the Graham's - Wiseman's - Ramsey's - Neal's - Hundley's. Also in Greenbrier Co. death records is John Burdett age 87 died May 9, 1882 Parents are lists as father J. Burdett mother H. Burdett.I think Oren Morton made a few mistakes in his History of Monroe and that William Burdett's brother John and not his son John was married to Margaret Swope. It's doubtful that a John Burdett born in 1775 father would be getting married again in 1818 and fathering several other children at that advanced of an age. If you have a copy of Larry G. Shuck's Monroe County West Virginia Deed Abstracts Deeds 1799-1817 - Wills 1799-1829 - Sim's Land Grant Index 1780-1862 and read all the entries for Burdett you will see what I mean about the time periods for the 3 different John Burdett's of Monroe Co.
