Many thanks for replying to my post regarding Frederick Augustus Burgett. To fill in some gaps.. He was a practising Barrister famous for his work in introducing 'Precedence' into British Law. I am interested in the following.
Frederick's wife Mary Scott's father was William Scott. I would like to know the maiden name of his wife who is recorded in the census only as Elizabeth Scott. It has been suggested by someone on the genealogy chat line her maiden name may have been Elizabeth Chantler however I have not been able to confirm this. What may be the problem is that Frederick's father and grandfather were traders in India. I suspect they were victualling the British Army possibly in Mhow. I suspect William Scott's wife's family may have also been associated with trading in India and this may be where William and Elizabeth met. There are records of an Elizabeth Chantler of about the right age onwww.genesreunited.co.ukbut she isn't married to William. It is possible William was a subsequent husband. My wife Suzanne Barnier's grandmother was Mary Burgett b1896 Casino NSW Australia.
