Jane, I stopped too soon! The report goes on to say, " We have two recipients of payment from his estate who are not included in the family record lists of his children: ELIZA who married William Burney and John. .... In the case of Eliza, we know she was not yet born when the 1810 census was taken, but that she was old enough to be married in 1834. From the reported birthdays of the other children, we may place her as probably born ca 1811-1813. It is also possible that the name of the child ELIAS said to be born in NC in 1816, was erroneously written down and that this was actually Eliza.THis is supported by the WILL of Simon Burney, Sr. made in Pitt County, NC on 29 January, 1829, in which he gave a negro girl, Roda, to his granddaughter, Eliza Wooten."
Best wishes,
