Thanks Greg for your information.I found out that my Thomas BURTON was not the son of Thomas BURTON and Susanna MILLIKEN so that means I am still looking for his parents.

According to the 1881 Canadian Census Index, my Thomas BURTON and his wife Ellen (HOUGHTON born 6 Jan 1855 in Boarhunt, Hampshire, England) have 4 children in their home and were living in Gwillimbury West, Simcoe South, Ontario.Their children were Thomas A. BURTON , Eliza H. BURTON, Fanny E. BURTON, and Nellie J. BURTON.The family's origin is English and they are Methodists.

Thomas is a farm labourer.His age is given as 33 which means he was born in about 1848.Apparently they were neighbors to Ellen's parent's Samuel HOUGHTON and Louisa (LUTMAN).Since Ellen's father was a farmer, there is a possibility that Thomas worked on his father-in-law's farm.

John R. HOOVER origin German miller age 36 born in Ontario, C. Methodist, married to Nancy Hoover origin English age 37 born in Ontario, C. Methodist, with two children:Francis G. HOOVER (female) origin German age 7, born in Ontario, C. Methodists & William Edgar HOOVER origin German age 4 born in Ontario, C. Methodist.This family was living in Pickering, Ontario, South, page 23 family 113, Microfilm #1375880.

William BURTON origin English carpenter age 34 born in Ontario, Christian, married to Ledia Burton origin English age 32 born in Ontario, Christian with one child listed:Esebella Robinson origin English age 12 born in Ontario, Christian.This family was living in Pickering, Ontario South, page 67, family 234, Microfilm #1375880.

Clarence FORSTER origin English turner age 24 (? is this an error) born in Ontario, C. Methodist, married to Adelia Forster origin English age 29 born in Ontario, C. Methodist with 5 children:Bertha FORSTER age 9 born in Ontario, C. Methodist, Laura FORSTER age 7 born in Ontario, C. Methodist, Frederick FORSTER age 5 born in Ontario, C. Methodist, Walter FORSTER age 3 born in Ontario, C. Methodist & Arden FORSTER (male) age less than one year 3/12.The family was living in Pickering, Ontario South, page 20 family 95, Microfilm #13758880. (I think the ages for the parents were either switched or misread.)
