I forget to add to my initial message, a citation of the will of Peter Burton Jr, son of Abraham Burton III and Ann Neal. Take notice of the witnesses of his will, Edward Neal and previously mentioned Francis Moore Neal. Edward Neal was son of Francis Moore Neal, as shown in 1805 Mecklenburg Co, VA Personal Property Tax List and in the 1815 Mecklenburg Co, VA will of Francis Moore Neal. Edward Neal appears in the 1830 Mecklenburg Co, VA census as a 40-50 year old male, owning 40 slaves. He appears to have died by 1835, per a Virginia Chancery Suit. This again seems to point to the wife of Abraham Burton III being Ann Neal, daughter of Thomas and Margaret Neal, of Chesterfield Co, VA.
1796: Will of Peter Burton Jr, signed 2/11/1796, was probated 7/11/1796.
He left his estate to his father, Abraham Burton, after his death to his mother, Ann Burton.
Executors: Father Abraham BURTON and friend Joseph QUINICHETT.
Witnesses: Edward NEAL, John HUDSON, Samuel ALLGOOD and Francis M. NEAL.
Codicil: Bequest to nephew Abraham BURTON, now living with me, son of my brother Thomas BURTON of Georgia.
Witnesses: Same as above to will.
Recorded in Mecklenburg Co, VA Will Book 3, page 365. See Burton Chronicles, page 120.
