Hello fellow Bushong researchers and descendants.
For the sake of untangling the Bushong Family in America, I have charted, with noted exceptions, the entire FindaGrave.com - Bushong Data Base, currently with over 2000 listings, (the search was for Bushon and Bushong, including maiden name). And from their data base, at least 1038 surnamed Bushongs, and additionally at least 500 oftheir wives were charted - totaling over 1500 Bushongs - charted to their final resting spot.
The single GEDCOM and family chart that this lead to, currently has over 2400 surnamed Bushongs and many more descendants of Bushong daughters, who changed their maiden names. It follows two main family lines - the families of Hans John Bushong and Andreas Bushong and is published on RootsWeb - called Bushong United. Also, there is also a smaller line for the Johannes John Bushong, who married Barbara Kreighbaum.
-Hans John Bushong's family line currently has over 1800 descendants.
-Andreas Bushong's family line currently has over 1550 descendants.
-Johannes John Bushong (husband of Barbara Kreighbaum) 116 descendants.
It is not yet known if Hans and Andreas were related.
It is true, that Find a Grave only has a percentage of, all the Bushongs, listed. I calculate 48% of my chart. This may be a high figure, from this charting project, but no matter what percentage it is - Find a Grave has a significant amount, of all the Bushongs, listed. Also, this chart obviously isn't every Bushong and if yours isn't on it, please let me know. In addition, there are hundreds of descendants, of Bushong daughters, that are not yet uncharted, as the initial goal was to chart Bushongs. And of the listings on Find a Grave I couldn't find and didn't chart? Some were wives, daughters and young children born and died between the census takings. But any male, who could have had a family was charted.
Researching a Bushong on Find a Grave, began with their memorial, which is what Find a Grave call's their listing, and from there, if it wasn't already charted in the GEDCOM, it went to the Census and other LDS records, and if that didn't prove the person, then any other WWW source, that was available, was used (and thank you all for that). When a Bushong was charted, whose parents were unknown or an assumption was made, an asterisk "*" was added to the end of their first name.
-Hans John Bushong Boschung (1692-Jul 18, 1749)
From Strasbourg, Alsace, Lorraine, France, (not necessarily born there)
Married toBarbara Foltz de Haguenau (1694-1737)
Immigrated September 21 1731- a Palatine in the ship Britania.
Died in East Lampeter Twp., Lancaster, Pennsylvania
-AndreasAndrew Bushong Boschung, as a progenitor, is a little harder to pin down. It was thought he was the son of Johann Nicholas Boschung, and immigrated as a boy in the Pink "John and William" to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Oct 17, 1732. But research by Judy Cassidy, points to the more likely progenitor as the Andreas Boschung who immigrated on the Ship Recovery in 1750 (or maybe 1754) to Wilmington, Delaware. His wife was Catharine. He and his family stayed for a while in Wilmington, Delaware, and is thought to have ended up in around Fayette County, Kentucky via Maryland and Virginia.
-Johannes John Bushong (1786-1870)
Born in Pennsylvania
Married Barbara Kreighbaum
Died in Stark County, Ohio
It is quite likely that John is a grandson to Hans, but not yet proven.

In the name of sharing and discovery, I will consider requests from descendants and family, for the complete GEDCOM, but note, it is now close to 12,000 names. Contact me directly. Otherwise, portions are available for download, now.
