Re: Byars or Byas or Bias or Bice or???
The name change can apparently go both ways, that is from Byars to Byas and back again.
My paternal ancestor, William Logan (c1782-1839) raised a family in Edgefield District of South Carolina.William moved his extended family on to what is now Bienville Par, LA about 1835.His oldest daughter (Permelia) married a Abram Landrus Byas in 1837.A younger daughter (Elizabeth Ann) married a Asa Harold Byas in 1839.For some time I have thought that the name Byas might be a variation of the name Byars. However, it appears some of the descendants of Abram Landrus used the surname Byars instead of Byas.
I am looking for any information on these two Byas (or Byars) men.If you see any connection between your Byars family and my Logans I would appreciate the input.I would, of course, be glad to share any of my research.
