Sorry to say I don't think I can help. My Bytheway ancestor was in Ludlow a century before that. It is a very common name in Shropshire, sadly for us who have to trace them. I'll give you a tip though. THe accent in those parts must be very thick, and a whole bunch of Bytheways are listed in the IGI as BIDEY. I think the pronunciation must have been closer to "Bee-de-way", and so must have sounded more like "Bee-day" to non Shropshire transcribers. Someone else put me on to that, and I found some of mine under Bidey.
