SILAS CADDY m Grace Clemens Dec 1857 Penzance
Dear All,
While looking for a connection for Grace Clemens b 1838 St Just in Penwith, Cornwall, I discovered a marriage between Silas Caddy and Grace Clemens Dec 1857 in Penzance. However I cannot find any trace of them after that. I would like to verify whether they are 'my' couple, and wonder if they emigrated- Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, North America...?
Grace is dau. of John Clemens b 1803, and Mary Harvey, b 1811, St Just in Penwith.
All I have found for Silas is:
1841 Treveaner Square, St Hillary, Marazion
Joseph Caddy, 45 miner in county
Elizabeth"45"
Richard"15"
William"12"
Silas"8"
1851 Carn Bosavern, St Just
Joseph Caddyhd m 59 tin miner b St Germoe
Elizabeth "wife 58b St Hillary
Silas"son un 18 tin dresser b Marazion
1861 Plane on gusoe (sorry for illegible scan)St Hillary
Elizabeth Caddy hd wid 70 laundress, b St Buryan
Mary A"dau un41 copper ore dresser b St Hilary
Joseph"g son un 18 tin ore dresser"
Eliza"g dau 10scholar"
Do any of these people ring any bells? In St Hilary 1861, Elizabeth Caddy is living amongst several other Caddy families.
Many of Grace Clemens' sisters and cousins emigrated around the 1860s. It would be good to tie up some more links,
Thank you, Shirley Simms
