Re: John Caffery and Mary Donelson
I have a copy from a book, "The Cafferys of Louisiana" by Philip F. Dur, given to me with our family tree back to Charles Caffery, 1700.It is several pages, but I will be happy to send you a copy if you send me your address. They did travel to TN and then back to Bedford and then again to TN and eventually to LA.It's interesting to note that, on the 2nd trip, Mary Donelson Caffery and her young son, Donelson, were captured by Choctaws and held prisoners for 2 years."During this time she was tortured, her skin raked with fish teeth. But her spirit remained unbroken. In later years she is said to have borne her scars like a soldier."
Also, I am trying to find the family tree before this John Caffery's great-grandfather (also John Caffery) born abt. 1670.Do you have any info on that?
