Hi Anna, I recently found your listing on the cairns family.
I know that i do have relitives of mine in Canada somewhere from the things that my father (Royden) has said to me, about cousin or cousins visiting the family in around 1940-50?? unsure of exact date.
As far as I know my great great grandfather (James Cairns) jumped ship here in Tasmania, Australia in around 1820's (didnt want to go around the Horn again}. He was from Glasgow Scotland as was on his head stone "a native of Glasgow" it was thought however from the stories told that the family was originally from Ireland from a place called Kylalla or kilalla ??? unsure of exact spelling. It is in northern Ireland
I would be interested in any info you could throw at me as in relation to where the name originated from or perhaps even any info on your g g g'fathermaybe a relation somwhere and also on how come about records of your james parents etc
Im sorry if my spelling or I seem to be jibbering as it is 3am here at moment
P.S. would you know if the Cairns clan has a shield or heraldry or even a motto ???Robert
