---taking a shot in the Beaver state, and, a question about ancestry----
1) Philo Callender b. 18 Jul 1805 in New York, and his wife, Ann Maria Towsley, moved to Clatsop Plains, Clatsop, Oregon in the 1860's.Their son, Melville Philo Callender, b. 7 Sep 1838 at Smithville, Chenango, NY, had one son, Charles Herbert Callender, b. 9 Jul 1869 at Clatsop Plains, Clatsop, Oregon.
Charles and wife, Beatrice Pearl Holden, had one child, Melville Holden Callender, b. 4 Jul 1899 at Astoria, Clatsop, Oregon.Melville d. 22 Feb 1988 at John Day, Grant, Oregon.
Melville married Lavelle Gillette Long in 1924 at Portland, Multnomah, Oregon.I know of one daughter, Priscilla S. Callender, b. Jan 1926 at Astoria. It's very possible that they had more kids, including some that are in the Medford area.
One of the daughters of Melville Philo Callender married George Conrad Flavel, son of George Flavel, a sea hero and "The" statesman of Astoria in the late 1800's.His mansion has been preserved and restored as one of the best attended museums on the coast.
Ann Maria Towsley's sister is my gggGrandmother.
2)Ancestry-wise, does your Callender ancestry intersect with any of the above, or, any Callenders in NY in the very early 1800's?
Thanks so much for your time and interest.Having been born and raised in Portland, and still having my business there (I moved across the river to Vancouver a few years ago), I appreciate any distance of cousin close to home.
