I am Eric O. Callicoat, a son born to Paul E. Callicoat, Sr. and his 'at that time' 3rd wife Dortha Lea Knight Callicoat on 25 September 1955. Aside from that making Paul Jr. my half-brother, that makes you my half-sister-in-law!? I will tell you in advance if you talk to Rema and Frank Romano they will tell you that they have visited my house when we lived in Otway, NC on a couple occasions when Jimmy and Sharon Workman, and Carnis Berry, Jr. (Butch) and his wife Brenda Kay Hicks Berry came to visit me in their motorhome, and called Rema to arrange to meet at my house. As is Frank, I am a retired Marine since Dec '93 and was discharged from my last duty station at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, NC. Since my discharge I have been mostly an Electronic Warfare Specialist working on and off at a local bombing range training pilots. I have been married to Sandra Ellen Lucas Callicoat of 2973 4th Ave Huntington WV for 32 years and we have 2 sons, Dana 28 and Dustin 25. Dustin and his wife Stephanie Pake Callicoat just made us Grandparents with a grandaughter named Ruby Lee. Enough about me. To the very best of my knowledge, Edward Otis Callicoat was Paul Sr's father, although I don't know who his mother was because when I knew 'Papaw Eddie' he was married to a woman named Lillian Morris Callicoat who had a son by a previous marriage named Don Morris who was Police Chief in Huntington at the time, and he was operating a beer joint across from Whiz Discount on Rt 60 in Huntington, WV. I had understood somewhat through 'overhearing' stuff as I grew up and met people that Edward Otis Callicoat was of Cherokee Indian origin to what degree I'm unsure. I also heard that because of this, and the fact that Paul Sr. was his son, so was he. I also heard that Paul Jr., your husband, claims 'Native American' as his lineage due to this, and was able to claim that in his accomplishment of endevours in life. Being able to enjoy the opportunity to serve in the United States Marine Corps I often had the chance to check 'caucasian', 'black', 'native american' etc.. on many documents but it never occured to me to check 'native american'. If you or Paul Jr. could contact me by telephone at (252)725-1574, or visit or write to my home at 191 Maggie Leonard Lane, Beaufort, NC (email; ECALLICOAT@ec.rr.com or email@example.com) to discuss the accuracy of any of many questions I would like to have answers to, like can my sons' claim 'Native American' on Government Forms? If so, to what degree? Better yet, GooglEarth my mailing address and see that I live on the Intracoastal Waterway here in North Carolina on Core Creek just south of the Hyw101 Bridge. There's a 250' long boardwalk like a nature trail to a dock big enough for a 50' yacht to tie up to, or catch dinner from, and it's only 15 minutes from Frank and Remas' place over on Pine Knoll Shores, if they're still there. If he (my brother) goes to see 'Mom' this summer ya'll stop by. Please drop me an email at the least, just so I'll still know there's some 'family' life still left out there.
