The Isle of Man parish records have references to CALLOWs in the 1600s, the earliest I saw at a quick glance was Jane CALLOW m Thomas CORKAN 1618, Maughold, IOM.

The name in the Isle of Man probably derives from McAlo(or son of Alo)which could be of Viking origin circa 1000 A.D. The English Callow's probably derive from de Calewe (Bald)or versions of Norman surnames.
