Hi to All... I just recently found something that I had filed away and forgotten...it may be of interest to some who are trying to determine the father of William Calvert, b. 2-26-1757 and who was married to Elizabeth Noding.
The article was dated December 4, 1966 and is titled "Carroll County Missouri Calverts".It reads in part as follows:
"According to the "Illustrated Historical Atlas of Carroll County Missouri" dated 1876:The Calvert family originally came to Maryland with the colony of Lord Baltimore, and the family was afterward one of the most prominent and numerous of that state. The early members of the family were attached in their religious belief to the Catholic faith."The article in the Historical Atlas concerns one James Calvert and goes on to state:"Mr Calvert's grandfather emigrated from Maryland to Tennessee and in East Tennessee was born Noding Calvert, the father of James Calvert. The Calverts subsequently removed from Tennessee to Missouri and were among the early settlers of Cooper County in the latter state."
The Noding Calvert family came from Cooper County to Carroll County Missouri in 1844.The families of several of Noding Calvert's nephews including William Calvert, John Fine Calvert and David A. Calvert also came from Cooper to Carroll about the same time.William, John Fine and David A. were the children of Noding Calvert's brother, William Jr.
James Calvert's grandfather mentioned in the Historical Atlas of 1876 was William Calvert born 1757 and married in 1780 to Elizabeth Noding who was born in 1761."
The article then goes on to name the children of William and Elizabeth Noding Calvert which is fairly well known to this line.
I don't have the actual article, but someone in Carroll County, Mo. may have access to a copy.
