Thank you for the additional information. I was just wondering about a possible connection between the following Elizabeth Mandlers of Rock Island County.I have an obit of Elizabeth Mandler (my g-grandmother) born in Hampton,Illinois in 1856 married Robert Calvert, lived in Greene County, Iowa and was buried, I believe, (its in the obit but I have forgotten) back in Hampton.I realize your records indicate Eva Mantler and I am sure they are the same woman. However, in 1839 a Mandler/Mantler family came to the US from Rhine, Prussia with a four year-old daughter named Elizabeth. The family settled in St. Louis, but the parents soon died and Elizabeth and her sister Maria Catharina, b. August 6, 1820, made a trek to Rock Island County where Elizabeth married a Henry Gode on May 9, 1855, moving later to Camanche and finally Clinton, Iowa. (what happened to Maria I do not know) This Elizabeth Mandler lived until 1926.Why would our Elizabeth (Eva) be returned to Illinois for burial (I believe Robert is buried in Paton, Iowa) There must be some family, the offspring of Maria or some brothers or relatives who came to Rock Island County before the girls which remained in Hampton. The clue to the Mandler/Mantler line is in Hampton I believe.Any thoughts on this?Jake.
