Calvete's in Argentina
I am trying to investigate my surname's origen but the sources I've been able to read place their solar house in different places, for some say it was in the town of El Calvet, in Catalunya, some in Galicia and others, included the Baron Cobos De Belchite in his nobiliary diccionary, from Aragon. I'd appreciate if anyone could tell me anything about the surname itself of even about any branches of the surname in Argentina and Uruguay. I've met the descendants of a couple of branches that have emigrated to Argentina in the 20th century from Galicia but my own branch has been in these shores since at least 1810.
I have a couple of pc basic drawings of the shield I've found on the net for anyone that may be interested. The surname, according to the authors that mention the family, can also be spelled Calvet and Calvente and, in old Spanish, could either mean bold or stake.
