Re: Calvete's in Argentina
Dear C. Calvete (what is your first name?)
Although I live in England, my parents were Spanish and I have traced my great-grandfather Calvete and his parents to a small town near Zaragoza called Bujaraloz.I have not been able to follow further back because all church records were destroyed in that area during the Spanish civil war. Some day I may travel there and see if anything can be retrieved.
From the telephone directory I note that there is quite a number of Calvetes in that area. However I note that there are some in Galicia and a scattering elsewhere in the large cities. In Cataluna the spelling is Calvet, but there are also Calventes about.
My grandfather (Lino Calvete) emigrated to the Americas in 1890, rumour has it that he went to Reno, but I have been able to trace hime there. As he probably did not speak English, he may have gone to Latin America byt my searches in Argentina have been unsuccessful.
I have further information which may be of interest to you.If you prefer, I can communicate in Spanish.I warn you I am getting on a bit, that is, I am not as young as I was.
