Hi, Julie; I am researching my husband's mother's family -- the Calvins of Texas. William Henry Calvin (born around 1820 in Virginia; died 1885 in Texas) who migrated through Alabama in the 1840s on his way west. He married Sarah Collier of Limestone County, Alabama some time in the 1840s. They settled in Marshall, Texas until the 1850s when Sarah died of disease. William moved to Burleson County, Texas between 1850 (census records) and 1853 when he established his ranch of some 3,000 acres north of Houston. I don't have definite information on his Virginia family, but wonder if he could have traveled to Alabama with a brother who stayed in Alabama? A cousin thinks his parents may have been Joseph Calvin and Elizabeth Wells of Virginia, but this is unverified.I would appreciate anything you might find out about the Calvins in Alabama. Thanks, Tinah Saunders.
