Cherokee Indian blood in ANY Camblin Family?
Iwould be very interested to know if any Camblin has a degree of Cherokee Indian blood...In my family in the 1850 census of Coffee Co., Tn., Polina Camblin is married to Richard Glass. They have one daughter (Frances who is considered imbecil, Polina dies, and Richard has become quite elderly. He takes the daughter, Frances, to the Camblin families located south of Chattanooga, Tn. into Alabama to Polina;s Camblin families to be taken care of. He dies on the trip. The census taker made a notation on the census records that this Glass-Camblin household is Cherokee Indian. This marriage is also increased by Richard's brother marrying Polina's sister. We know the brother to be Benjamin; we do not know the sister's name. They were both drowned at the same time returning from Rockbridge County, Va., and Polina also raised her three nieces...One daughteris said to have mareried the Indian chief, Benge, (not proven). One of the other sisters is my great grandmother, Martha Graham, having married James Graham in Tennessee. It is stated in the family that this Graham-Glass marriage was the first outside the Indian race (not proven)...can any of you identify any Indian bloodline in the Camblin family? Thanks for reading and await your return postings.Len
