Virginia-
I was looking for information on this website pertaining to my last name and saw your posting. I hope I may be of some help to you.
My great-grandfather came over from Switzerland in the 1880's with a couple of his brothers. Family legend has it that they had a parting-of-the-ways after arriving in America. One kept the original spelling of the last name, one changed it to "Kamenzind" and one changed it to "Kammenzind". My grandfather was Albert A. Kammenzind, who married Ethel Rowland in the early 1900's.
We do have a branch of the family out in California that we just "discovered" back in the mid 80's. One of them provided us with a family tree tracing back to the 1600's - right to Gersau.
If you would like any information please feel free to contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully,
Keith R. Kammenzind
Pittsburgh, PA
