Hi - Thanks for your interesting reply. My Great-Great Grandfather came from Dabel Germany also near Schwerin. His name was Jochen (or Johann) Carl Helms and had a son named Johann Carl Christoph Camin. Jochen Carl Camin's wife was named Friederike Dorothee Caroline Gretzler.Jochen was born in 1823, Friederike in 1836 and Johann (son) in 1863. Jochen's father (a man named Helms) must have died, because his mother remarried a man named Johann Camin from Dabel and he adopted Jochen. Dabel is located about 20 or 30 miles east of Schwerin. I have a copy of a Camin crest that was prepared in 1973 for a Merritt R. Camin in Owego, New York. I don't believe he is any relation to me and I got it through an other Camin not related to me. I can email a scanned copy of it to you if you want it.
Glad to hear from you.Bob Camin
