First Campau to arrive in Detroit
During the researching of my family tree I found a document which indicated that Agatha Barbara Campau arrived in Detroit with her husband Paul Chevalier on July 12, 1702.It appears that she was the third white women to arrive in Detroit (after Madam Cadillac and Tonty's wife came in the spring of 1702).Agatha Barbara was the sister of Jean, Michel and Jacques Campau. Jean and Jacques were on a voyage leaving from Montreal and arriving in Detroit on July 28, 1704 (the travel documents listed their last name as Campots).Jean was listed again as a bargeman arriving Detroit May 30, 1705. It appears that they did not settle until Michel arrive on August 3, 1707 and Jacques on September 3, 1708.
My Grandfather, John Phillip Campau was a direct descendant of Michel and his grandmother (on his mothers side)was Theresa Campau who was directly related to Jacques Campau.
I would like to here from anyone who wants to compare notes
