Debbie Fox, The Louis Campau you seem to be talking about is not the same as the one which I am refering to. Onehistory book that seems to have wrong information about Sir Louis Campeau is "Detroit Tricentenial Detroit 300" which claims that... The earliest tracing of the Campeau line in France began initially in Limoges, France in the 1500's where it is recorded that a Louis Campeau wed Hippolyte La Fontaine. These 2 people are men, who can be found in the the 3 volume books "Dictionnaire National Des Canadian Francais" by Drouin which is also available on CD. these 2 men are descendants of Etienne Campeau.
