Sylvia....As I mentioned before, Cornelius Campbell and Lewis Campbell (sons of Joel Campbell and grandsons of Henry and Charity Campbell, I believe) were the next-door neighbors of the David Davidson who was on the 1810 Campbell Co., VA census. An apparent son of that David Davidson was named Samuel Davidson, and Samuel married Elender Lea in Campbell Co., VA in 1807.Elender Lea was a daughter of Gideon Lea and a Miss COFFEE/CAFFREY.I just found some old posts that show that the Coffee family married into the Campbell family over in Amherst/Nelson Co., VA, and a Joel Campbell was also mentioned therein.

There was another/unrelated Davidson/Davison family in Campbell Co., VA, and a John Davidson in that unrelated family (which came to Bedford Co., VA from PA by the 1770s) married a Polly Caffrey in the early-1800s.It seems that this "common connection" to what was probably the same overall Caffrey/Coffee family caused these two unrelated Davidson/Davison families to become "better acquainted,....because in the 1840s, there was some kind of "financial deal" between these two unrelated Davidson/Davison families.

Do you have any information on the Coffee/Caffrey family that married into the Campbell family of Amherst/Nelson Co., VA?I still strongly suspect that the David Davidson who was on the 1810 Campbell Co., VA census was married to a Miss Campbell....so maybe a marriage between their son Samuel and a member of the Coffee/Caffrey family is simply "indicative" of the "connection" between that same Coffee/Caffrey family and the Campbell family back in Amherst/Nelson Co., VA.

By the way (and I don't know if I mentioned this in an earlier post or not), another likely son of the above David Davidson (and David's likely Campbell wife) was named William Davidson. That William Davidson married Eliza Irvine, and my research indicates that Eliza was a descendant of the Robert Kyle who had married an Elizabeth Campbell way back in the early-1700s or so (that Elizabeth Campbell is said by some researchers to have been the daughter of an "early" Hugh Campbell). The above might be another clue that the "early" Hugh Campbell and his daughter Mrs. Elizabeth (Campbell) Kyle were part of the same overall Campbell family as the Campbells in Amherst/Nelson Co., VA (who were obviously associated with David Davidson in some way). There was also a Moses Higginbotham and his brother James Higgenbotham.Moses married a daughter of Robert Kyle and Elizabeth Campbell, while his brother James married a daughter of Henry and Charity Campbell of Amherst Co., VA.As such, I think the "odds" are VERY LOW that the "early" Hugh Campbell and his daughter Mrs. Elizabeth (Campbell) Kyle were not related to the Henry Campbell who married Charity.

I also suspect that the later/younger (apparently) Hugh Campbell who became the second husband of Neil Campbell's daughter in Amherst Co., VA in 1795 was also a part of this same overall Campbell family.Yet another apparent son of David Davidson who was named John Davidson attempted to sue Hugh Campbell in court for his land in Amherst Co., VA in 1813.So....maybe the mother of John Davidson....hence the wife of David Davidson....was out of Hugh's line (or maybe she was out of Neil's line, since Neil had originally been the owner of that same property). This is probably an additional "clue" that suggests that Hugh Campbell, his father-in-law Neil Campbell, the "early" Hugh Campbell and his daughter Mrs. Elizabeth (Campbell) Kyle and the Henry Campbell in Amherst Co., VA were all related.

Note: Based on all that I now know, it APPEARS that the Hugh Campbell who married Neil Campbell's daughter in 1795 had been in Rockbridge Co., VA earlier.I think that one of the "challenges" for Campbell family researchers is to determine just how/if that Hugh Campbell....and Neil Campbell, as well....were related to the Campbells in Amherst/Nelson Co., VA (which seems almost certain to me). Some of Robert and Elizabeth (Campbell) Kyle's children left the Albemarle/Buckingham Co., VA area (where Robert Kyle lived), and they moved to the Botetourt/Rockbridge Co., VA area by the late-1760s or so (as did some of my Davidsons).Who knows....maybe some male members of the Campbell family also moved to Botetourt/Rockbridge around that same time, and maybe that is why Hugh Campbell seems to have been living in Rockbridge Co., VA before 1795 (unless that was a different Hugh Campbell who appeared in Rockbridge records).

Note: Hugh Campbell's step-son (the son of Neil's daughter, via her first/earlier husband) left Amherst Co., VA as an adult and moved to Rockbridge Co., VA, where he apparently became a well-known furniture maker.Maybe that move to Rockbridge is a "clue" that the Hugh Campbell who had been in Rockbridge earlier was, in fact, his step-father.

In your previous message, you mentioned a Campbell Kid website, as I recall.I would appreciate it if you would tell me how I can access that. Thanks so much!
