Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
The story about the prisoners is intriguing to say the least, but, on thinking this through, my Gilbert would have been too old, as he died in 1750 and was buying land in Borden Grant in 1743/44. So, it couldn't have been him. I don't doubt,though that it was some of his kin folk.!
