My line is through Elizabeth Campbell and John Ramsey.George reported somewhere that his mother's name was Prudence.I will have to dig up that information.The wife of George Campbell is reported to be Agnes Nancy McClure although I do not know of proof.I think the father of Agnes was probably Samuel McClure of Rockbridge County, VA.George must have known a Samuel McClure (McCluer) because in the Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in VA it is reported on August 15, 1766 George Campbell obtained land, "120 acres at the Cove on the south side James River crossing Elk Creek. Teste: Daniel Evans, Samuel McCluer."Samuel McClure had a daughter, Agnes who married a James (not George)Campbell according to a book on the McClures in VA.Could this have been a mistake in names?There were also daughters Anne and Hannah who could have been called Nancy. I would like more information on Gilbert and George Campbell families.
