Re: Irish origin of name Caney?
Altho this is dragging on for years, let me clear up a couple of things. In an early newspaper article of the London England news (18??), it stated "and hence forth he shall be known as Caney."The article was refering to a gentleman who was proficient at repairing cane chairs in London. There was a picture of the fellow. To the best of my knowledge, he could be from just about anywhere. As a point of interst, I was told by my great grandmother, during the English crusades in Europe, one of my Caney relatives brought back a "War Bride".Does this help with the confussion?
