I believe your John F. Capps is the son of John R. Capps and Mary Ann Franklin. Here is the info I have:

"Brunson, Johnson, Tisdale, Capps Families of Crenshaw Co, AL.by Mr. Thomas H. Compton:

Johnr R. Capps (10th child of Samuel Capps and Sarah Wise) was born 1822 in sumter District S.C., m. Mary Ann Franklin 1-8-1846 in Pike Co. Ala.She was born in August 1826 in Alabama, probably the dau of Henry Franklin and Margaret Baggs. The John R. Capps family was living in Pike Co., AL , in 1850 and 1860.With theadvent of the Civil War John enlisted in the CSA, in Pike Co., AL on 9-25-1863, asa Pvt. in Capt. John Brown's Calvery Co, Local Defence. The John R. Capps family moved to Grimes Co, TX, in the 1870s.John died before 1900; Mary Ann died after 1900.We believe they both died in Grimes Co."
