Re: DIXIE BELLE (CAREY) DeLORME KELTZ (1911-1991) & JACK DeLORME
Off subject, but I want to use a more current posting you did to contact you about your AMOS /COOPER line that came to Roane Co TN.This Orpha / Oprah COOPER is the daughter of my 6th great grandfather David COOPER and wife Elizabeth who came out of VA into old Edgecombe / Nash Co N (tons of COOPERs there still on a branch) then to wake Co, and down to Spartanburg, Thickety, SC.There were a couple AMOS marriages and they came to old Roane Co TN, where by coincidence I now live...or rather I live near Lenoir City TN which is now part of Loudon County that once was part of Roane.Upon moving here and then starting family research, I found this family in a book published about a year or so after we moved here...Loudon County TN and It's Families...so was surprised. I now know Mother (who also moved here and has a COOPER grandmother) has at last 4th cousins and younger on the AMOS line. I even discovered that the wife of a good TX Aggie friend (we lived in TX) had an AMOS mother and my friend & I are 6th cousins by strange coincidence. I have a public tree on Ancestry.com titled STANALAND and WILLIAMS (WILMS) ROOTS.
My great grandmother b 1878 Monroe Co AR (Brinkley) was Clara COOPER, dtr of Dillard L.COOPER b 1838 Spartanburg SC & Parthenia ANDREWS / ANDERS, HOUSE, HOLMAN...Dillard L. was her last spouse and he died 1884 AR. (I have their old bible).I know that the line has been tested on several branches, first I think (through FTDNA) on the line of the Dillard COOPER who went to TX to help fight the Mexicans..going with Shackleford's Alabama Red Raiders...and was captured at Goliad, but survived the Massacre (Fannin's Massacre is another way it is known) and has a bio in The Handbook of Texas, plus more biographical info in the library in Columbus, TX.He is my ggg granduncle, brother to my ggg grandfather Benson G. COOPER who was married to a Delphy LINDSEY. They came about 1845 to eastern AR...and my ANDREWS /ANDERS came from Wilkes, GA in 1856 to the same location.
More information available...I hear that GENFORUM is shutting down in September 2014 but I think the oldl postings will still be available. Sure hope so. there is a whole world and more of information that would be lost in lengthy discussions valuable to we rsearchers.
