I belive this John Carlin in Surry CO NC is the same John Carlin in Greenville SC census 1800 and 1810, Buncombe for 1820.
I also believe he is related to Daniel and Thomas Carlin that migrated to SW VA by 1774. My Stewart´s bought land from Daniel Carlin and served in his Militia, Rev WAr, 1779, Henry CO VA.
